Regumate - the original oral progesterone.
Regumate contains the synthetic progestagen – altrenogest. Altrenogest mimics the action of the mare's progesterone. This allows the use of Regumate as a tool for control of the breeding cycle in mares including induction of ovulatory oestrus, suppression of oestrus in normally cycling mares, and as a treatment for habitually-aborting mares that require assistance for maintaining their pregnancy.
Benefits of Regumate:
Oral administration with rapid absorption and fast onset of action.
Readily eliminated from the body (no accumulation).
Adjust length of treatment according to the season (early = longer, later = shorter).
Administration through a drench gun reduces contact between the active hormone and the administrator.
Key benefits of using reproductive hormones for control of the equine breeding cycle:
Allows pre-planning to minimise costs.
Proven and accurate results.
Cost-effective management of equipment, stud staff and veterinary time.
Programmes can be ceased at any time and mares will return to oestrus within a normal cycle.
The use of these hormones under close veterinary supervision facilitates management of single or groups of mares (stud) without any detrimental effect on the mare’s fertility.
