Intervet/Schering-Plough Sheep Performance Programme - Overview

Secure more than just lamb numbers.

The Intervet/Schering-Plough Sheep Performance Programme is designed to secure the performance of your breeding flock, and keep lamb numbers high. Its foundation is in risk management.

A number of factors can influence your final lambing percentage. Some can't be controlled, but Toxoplasma and Campylobacter can.

These diseases are present on nearly every New Zealand farm, and they can increase the number of dry and late lambing ewes and reduce overall lambing percentages. Protecting ewes against abortions caused by Toxoplasma and Campylobacter will prevent the low-level losses that occur every year, as well as losses as high as 20-30% through abortion storms.

You can secure your flock’s performance with Toxovax® and Campyvax4®. Use of these vaccines has also been associated with an average increase in lambing percentages of 3 and 9 percent respectively.

Salmonella disease can also cause unnecessary ewe deaths and productivity losses. A targeted strategy against either enteric or Brandenburg disease with Salvexin®+B will ensure the protection of valuable breeding ewes.

At the tip of the programme is the ideal strategy to boost lamb numbers fast, Androvax®plus - a vaccine that results in ewes releasing more eggs leading to an average 20% increase in lambs.

So if you want to secure more than just the performance of your flock, talk to your vet now about a sheep performance plan suitable for you and your farm business.

Sheep Performance Programme.

A structured and planned approach to help you secure more than just lamb numbers.

Salvexin®+B

Protect against unnecessary deaths and productivity losses from Salmonella diseases.

Enteric Salmonellosis occurs throughout New Zealand, and intensively grazed stock are most vulnerable. Disease strikes without warning from early summer through to winter, and can spread rapidly. In severe outbreaks losses can reach 20%.

Salmonella cannot be eliminated from a mob or farm, so the aim of vaccination is to prevent infection and reduce the impact of any disease outbreak.

Benefits of Salvexin+B:
> The only Salmonella vaccine for sheep
> Reduces ewe deaths and the impact of a disease outbreak
> Can be used in a targeted programme prior to the risk period for either enteric or Brandenburg disease
> Protects valuable breeding stock
> Multistrain protection against S. Hindmarsh, S. Typhimurium, S. Bovis-morbificans and S. Brandenburg

Only available under veterinary authorisation.

Potential Earnings Calculator

The more lambs you have, the more you can make of higher lamb prices.
The Intervet/Schering-Plough Potential Earnings Calculator will show you how a structured vaccination programme can significantly boost the number of lambs you can expect this season.

The Calculator lets you adjust your risk factors, so you can see the impact of potential losses caused by ewe or lamb deaths, or dry ewes. Plus, you will see the boost in numbers that you could expect when you protect against the biggest disease threats, or enhance the fertility of your ewes.
